Termination placement carries real clearances. Distance from operable windows and doors, height above expected snow line, separation from the gas meter, and distance from a neighboring property line all constrain where the pipe can exit. Condensing units also produce acidic condensate. It needs a drain path to a laundry standpipe, floor drain, or condensate pump, and typically a neutralizer cartridge in line before it enters the plumbing.
